  • A fast growing and ever-blooming tree-like shrub, the Duranta features drooping clusters of purple flowers somewhat reminiscent of wisteria. Flowers are not very fragrant but will appear reliably throughout the growing season. Small yellow or orange ornamental berries appear in the fall. This plant does well outside on a patio during spring and summer months. With proper light and care, it can overwinter indoors and be ready to head back outside in the spring.

Potted in a 10" container. Plant has a single woody stem and tree-like shape. Approximately 8' or more at maturity, Duranta can be pruned regularly to maintain size and habit.

Bright light to full sun (indoors, aim for 6-8 hours of direct sunlight through a south- or west-facing window)
Water when top 1" of soil feels dry; indoors, about 2-3 times per week a week, and 1" of rain per week or equivalent watering outdoors. Prefers humidity.
Tropical soil with perlite. Fertilize once a month March-October.
    Toxic to cats and dogs
