Philodendron-Plowmanii, 4"

An unusual Philodendron with a creeping growth habit, Philodendron plowmanii features dark green heart shaped leaves with distinct veining and a lush shiny surface. Rather than supporting the leaves, the stems grow sideways and provide a wider base for the plant. But the petioles (individual leaf stems) grow quite tall, and the plant can eventually reach heights of 8' or more. As the plant matures, the leaves will get larger, up to 7-15" across and develop grey undersides. All this growth will take quite a long time; overall it's a slow-growing plant.

Potted in a 4" container.
