  • Cresting happens to cacti when their growth points aren't organized in their typical linear manner - and instead the cactus starts to grow outward at the same time that it grows upward, causing the growth to curl and fold in upon itself. These little cacti are a low-growing genus (mammillaria) and so the genetic difference for cresting causes them to have a brain-like growth. Easy to care for; thrives on neglect.

    Potted in a 2.5" container.

    Bright, indirect to direct light
    Water with 1 tablespoon or so of water 1x monthly or less in the winter
    Cactus soil with added perlite
    Not toxic to cats and dogs
