Spring/Easter Cactus

  • Details
  • Like other holiday cacti, the spring cactus is an epiphytic plant (meaning it grows up the sides of trees in its natural environment) that under natural conditions will bloom right around the holiday it is named for. But while the familiar Christmas and Thanksgiving cacti originate in Brazilian rainforests, the Easter Cactus comes from drier forests. Holiday cacti can't take as much sunlight as desert cacti (no direct sun on these) and require 14 hours of darkness per day from October through November to see blooms in March.

Blooms are white, orange, pink, purple, and red. We'll choose the best looking plant available at the time when you place your order. If you have a specific request for bloom color, let us know in the order notes and we'll try to find the best match with what we have in stock. Note that we can't guarantee a specific color will be in stock when you order.

Bright, indirect light. Move to darker, cool location for two months from October-November.
Allow to dry out between waterings (every 2-3 weeks, depending on conditions). Prefers humidity.
Cactus soil. Fertilize in spring after blooms fade. Stop fertilizing in October.
Not toxic to cats and dogs
